Matthew 6:25
" Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life..."
Matthew 6:27
" Can any one of you by worry add a single hour to your life?"
Worrying does not change things or your situation. Of course, I am still human, so I know that its so much easier said then done. Its easy to say that you shouldn't worry. I know that its hard sometimes to just trust God with all things. In fact, I am still learning myself how to fully and genuinely put my worries onto God and just trust him.
ADVICE
When you put your trust in God, it doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't still try to handle the situation that you're in. Only to a certain extent should you drop everything and hand it to God. You shouldn't drop everything completely. You should still work on the situation, but instead of trying to work on it by yourself, you need to allow God into that situation and allow him to guide you in what you are trying to do. God works THROUGH people. So he will work through you to get you out/through your situation. The only difference from before and after allowing God into the situation, is that before you were going no where by trying to do it yourself....But now with God, you are letting him do all the work.
Put It Into Action
Lets say you don't have a job but are looking for one. The first thing you should do is ask God for help. You need to allow him into the situation. You need to trust God and know that he will bless you with a job. Yes, you did just put your trust in him to find you a job. But that does not mean you should stop actively looking for a job. Yes, God WILL provide, but he works THROUGH people, especially you. A job isn't likely to show up at your doorstep without you putting in any effort. Through God all things are possible but if you really want to find a job, then the minimum you have to do is pray consistently about finding one. You still need to be looking for one, instead of sitting around waiting for one to appear. In the bible it says, " Seek and you will find" (Matthew 7:7). So that shows that you still have to put in some effort.
Personal Testimony
I was recently jobless for about 3 months. During those long financially challenging months, I looked very hard for a job. But I was looking for one by myself, not with God. I downloaded the Indeed App and I applied to literally every job that I was qualified for. It wasn't until the third month of having no job, that I decided to pray before I submitted applications. After I submitted my applications I prayed about. I prayed and trusted that the one that contacts me will be the job that I am meant to have. In order for me to know for sure, then no other job can/will contact me. Keep in mind, I literally applied to about 10 different places. In the end, only 2 contacted me. Since I wasn't sure which one I should go for, I attempted both because my schedule allowed for it to happen. But I wanted to make sure that It was the will of God, so I still prayed about it even though I had seemingly received my blessing/answer from God anyway. After praying about it, the first job reached out to me and basically took back their job offer before I could even start. I wasn't upset though, because I knew that it wasn't apart of God's plan for me to have that second job. Now I am a hostess, and honestly I like it more then I would've thought id ever like a job like that. I know its from him because it doesn't interfere with my church schedule. It doesn't pull me away from him. As a college student, its tough managing a job, school, church, family and a social life. So allowing God into my busy life was key to being able to have some sort of balance. The main point to my testimony , is to show you how I allowed/trusted God to help me, while still doing my part as well.
STEPS
Step 1
- When a situation arises, you must FIRST pray about it and ask God for wisdom and guidance
Ephesians 6:18
"And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests."
Step 2
- You must trust and allow God to help you in your situation.
( You have to do this fully and genuinely, although it will be difficult to fully trust him, considering we are still humans and want to handle things on our own. This step takes a lot of practice, so don't beat yourself up about it if you find yourself struggling with it.)
It does becomes easier once you understand that God is your "Ride or die". Once you realize that he will NEVER leave you no matter what you have done, you will start to trust him more and more. It will all come with time, so don't feel discouraged if this doesn't happen overnight, because it is all a PROCESS. God is with you throughout the whole process, ready to pick you up when you stumble.
Isaiah 41:10
" So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand"
Step 3
- When you are face to face with the situation, you must continue praying and asking God for guidance. Just because you already prayed before everything, doesn't mean you're all good and don't need to continue praying. You have to be consistent with prayer and constantly ask him to use you and work through you, so that in whatever you do or say, it is him working and using you and not you handling the situation with your own words and actions.
Luke 18:1
"Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up"
Step 4
- When your situation gets resolved, remember to thank God for helping you and guiding you through it all. Without him in the situation would've ended up the way it wasnt supposed to. You are suppose to be at peace at the result of each decision. If you are at complete peace by the end of it all, then that is the simplest way to know that it was truly Gods will and actions that did all the work.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
" Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
Collosians 3:15
"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful."
